JANE HALBERT

Jane Halbert Jones is a Capricorn and refuses to accept the new zodiac sign. She has graced the walls of Hal and Mal’s since 1997 is some shape, form or fashion as a server, bartender, hostess and Brandi White Lee’s right hand gal during special events; leaving us from time to time when she lived and gallivanted around Europe during her 20’s. Today we welcome
Jane Halbert (yes, it’s a double name) back as Bar Manager/Event Planner. Jane Halbert is an avid Francophile and speaks French quite well! She wants to use her passion for entertaining and hostessing to bring a warm and welcoming ambiance to Hal and Mal’s, the city of Jackson and ultimately the great state of Mississippi. “Everywhere I have lived and traveled abroad people ask, ‘Where are you from?’ I have never answered the United States but always Mississippi. My heritage and this region have always traveled with me and I am proud of that.”

“Please let us help you have a great time here at Hal and Mal’s whether it be dining, parties, music or events, I am excited to serve my community in this capacity!” She also has a small travel company, More Than a Tourist, LLC where she plans European vacations for customers and takes a small group to Paris at Thanksgiving.

Favorite Part about being a manager: Well, I’m still a bit new at it but I love being around all the different people,
hearing all the conversations!

Why she loves Jackson: I always have but since returning almost 3 years ago I am so excited to see th
revitalization of downtown and being involved. The people of Jackson deserve a great city!

APRIL BAUCUM

April Baucum, a native of Clinton, Mississippi, enjoys bartending, reading, socializing with friends, and listening to music. April began her maiden voyage at Hal and Mal’s in September of 2001 as a waitress. During her time at Hal and Mal’s, April has done just about everything: waitress, bartender, event planner, and now, manager. As manager she handles a variety of issues, from day to day staffing, keeping our stages booked with an array of talent, and bookkeeper. During her 10 years here, a memory that stands out the most, is when she received her first Hal and Mal’s handshake, “thanks Stefanie Miller,” she giggled then replied. Some of her favorite bands she has seen while working here include: Pin Stripe Brass Band, Lucero, Drive By Truckers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Gillian Welch, and Snoop Dog. When we asked April, why she loves Hal and Mal’s, she replied, “it’s my family!” April lives at home with her fabulous husband, Ryan, and their Miniature Daschund, Daisy
